Dr. William Funk

Professional Life

Dr. Funk is originally from Phoenixville in Chester County. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Villanova University and subsequently received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, he completed a hospital-based general practice residency at the University of Vermont School of Medicine, where he expanded his skills and gained comprehensive experience in treating a wide range of patient needs.

One of the aspects Dr. Funk cherishes most about dentistry is its continual evolution. With new technologies and treatment approaches emerging every year, he remains dedicated to ongoing professional growth. He completes extensive continuing education annually, ensuring he stays up to date with the latest advancements and is fully equipped to deliver the highest level of care his patients trust him to provide.

For Dr. Funk, being a dentist in northern Lancaster County has been, and continues to be, the best decision he could have made. He feels fortunate to work among caring and engaging individuals who value thorough, gentle, and well-informed treatment. Over the years, connecting with so many patients has added a richness and sense of purpose to his life that goes far beyond simply going to work each day. He is genuinely grateful to spend his days caring for longtime patients he now considers friends, and he looks forward to each visit.

Personal Life

Dr. Funk and his wife, Holly, grew up in Phoenixville before spending several years in Philadelphia for his undergraduate and dental education. They later moved to Burlington, Vermont, for his residency, but eventually returned to Pennsylvania, seeking longer summers and proximity to family. Settling in Denver, they established the dental practice that would become Cocalico Dental—a decision that, five decades later, remains one of the most rewarding of their lives.

In August 2020, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Funk and Holly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their three adult children have built families of their own, blessing them with seven grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 18.

Although Dr. Funk now limits his time in the office to one day per week, he remains committed to staying current in a profession that has shaped his life for many years. He is deeply grateful for the thousands of patients he has been privileged to care for throughout his career and sincerely thanks them for their trust and support.
